Eligibility & Limitations

 

CODE OF ETHICS

In all steps of a scientific research ,the researchers must maintain integrity. Researchers will avoid any scientific misconduct such as falsifying data ,plagiarism, or using the works of other researchers. Such projects will fail to compete in the I-SWEEEP Fair

 

ELIGIBILITY/LIMITATIONS

  1. I-SWEEEP is open both US students and international students attending classes in grades 9 through 12.
  2. A project can qualify for  I-SWEEEP in three ways:

             I. Direct Qualification from Regional, State, or National Science Fairs: A limited number of projects directly qualify from Regional, State, or National Science Fairs. Those projects are judged by the fair organizations and qualified for I-SWEEEP. While all applications are subject to pre-elimination process, those projects forgo such screening by I-SWEEEP’s Scientific Review Committee. I-SWEEEP collaboratively works science fair coordinators in this process.  The invitation letters  and certificates for selected students are sent to the fair directors.              II. Recognition from Regional, State, or National Science Fairs: Additionally, some projects are recognized and nominated for I-SWEEEP by various fair organizations. This recognition does not guarantee the spot at I-SWEEEP . I-SWEEEP’s Scientific Review Committee evaluates those projects and notify the students of their eligibility to participate in I-SWEEEP after factoring in the recognition from fair organizations. The I-SWEEEP Organizing Committee receives the list of nominated projects from the fair directors.

             III. Individual Applications: Finally, The projects that are not recognized by fair organizations may also apply for I-SWEEEP. Those projects are expected to compete in a regional, state, or national science fairs prior to I-SWEEEP. I-SWEEEP Scientific Review Committee evaluates the applications and notifies the students of their eligibility to participate in I-SWEEEP.  

    3. The student should be under twenty-one years of age as of April 1 in the year of participation.

  1. A student, or group of students, may not exhibit more than one project each year.
  2. The project should be done in last 12 months before entrance in the I-SWEEEP.
  3. An exhibit cannot be entered in the I-SWEEEP fair for more than one year without significant changes.
  4. Team project may have a maximum of three members but Maximum of two members can present a team exhibit at I-SWEEEP fair. Third member may attend I-SWEEEP Fair as an observing student by paying the cost of attendance. I-SWEEEP Organizing Committee provides hotel accommodations for only two members. Team members cannot be changed in current year of work but can be altered in the subsequent years. If one of the team members cannot participate in I-SWEEEP, the project can be presented by the other team member if possible.
